Rm 1:25 who exchanged the Truth of God for the lie

Truth the Scriptures reveal about the world, ourselves, God, and the relationship between the two (consistent with Reason and Reality)

I. World

1Jn 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father…17 And the world is passing away…

Material and Immaterial; Not what you see; Cursed; Temporal-Not all there is  Rev 21:1 I saw a new heaven and a new earth…

Under the control of Satan  1Jn 5:19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.

II. Ourselves

Ps 100:3 Know that the LORD, is God; He has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture

Dignified by being created in the Image of God   Gen 1:27…in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Free to chose and reap consequences Gal 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap

Questing for worth and value (self-interest)  Gen 3:6 good for food…pleasant to the eyes…and a tree desirable to make one wise…

Dependent vs Prideful Sojourners (Death is the beginning of both life and eternal life) 1Pt 2:11 sojourners abstain from fleshly lusts

Deceived & Irrational Titus 3:3 we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures…

Fallen/Sinful but Redeemable/Restorable;  Saved sinners Þ Metamorphosized Þ Sanctified Saints  Rm 8:29 conformed to image

Gal 1:4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father

III. God

Jude 1:25 To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.

1Ch 29:11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty; For all in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, And You are exalted as head over all. 12 Both riches and honor come from You, and You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; in Your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. 13 we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.

Creator \ Able to create circumstances; Owner, King, Lord, Almighty, Lover, Shepherd, Defender, Friend, Provider, Judge, SAVIOR

Communicator \ His will is knowable (and doable) Heb 1:1 God…spoke… by the prophets 2…spoken to us by His Son… (Phil 2:13)

Sovereignly sets the rules and expects obedience  Gen 4:7 "If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin crouches at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should  rule over it."  Dt 30:11 th is commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it far off. 14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it

Loves to Bless (\ makes blessable)  Gen 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them…fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion Dt 30:19…I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live

Infinite in Holiness, Justice, Loyal/Faithful Love, Wisdom, Goodness, Mercy, Compassion, Power, etc (see Bible)

IV. Relationship

between God and ManMic 6:7 Will the LORD be pleased…8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

God desires a relationship with us to bless us Jn 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me…will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him. 15:10 If you  keep My commandments, you will abide in My love…

Worth & Value are found in pleasing/glorifying God, giving us purpose and meaning Jn 17:4 I have glorified You on earth…finished the work
Mt 25:21 Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler…Enter into the joy of your lord.

Faith (we believe what He’s revealed), obedience (knowable/doable will), loyal-love result in blessing Heb 11:6…rewards seekers

Self-centered independence/rebellion (purpose/ambitions/actions) result in discipline/cursing Lk 9:23 deny…follow 24 save…lose

Questions for Reflection/Discussion/Response:

  1. Is there a difference between a Christian and Biblical worldview? What are the  consequences of an inconsistent or inaccurate worldview?
  2. How does your view of God shape your actions and dreams? How does it effect your relationships with others? Give you direction?
  3. What will happen if someone doesn’t embrace all that God has revealed about themselves, their purpose, motivations, actions. etc?
  4. What lies do you believe about life on this planet? How can you bring your thinking into conformity with the Truth of God? Rm 12:1-2
