The world’s peace, like its happiness is transitory and easily lost. Peace that comes from permanent bonding to Christ is permanent. I. Peace is wholehearted unity with God’s perspective, which opens the door to freedom from anxiety and harmony with others A. Peace w/ God is found in believing and humbly accepting God's provision for our sin thus bringing us into proper rlshp w/ Him Isa 53:5 He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him... Lk 1:79 To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace." Acts 10:36 The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ --- He is Lord of all ---Isa 9:6 Rm 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, Eph 2:14 He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity...so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. 17 preached peace to you Col 1:20 by Him to reconcile all things to Himself...having made peace thru the blood of His cross 21 alienated in mind-works 22 holy Jer 29:11 For I know the thots that I think toward you, says the LORD, thots of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope B. Peace with others is found in unity-joint submission to God's perfect will, as we walk in/acc to the Holy Spirit (Js 3:14-18) Lk 12:51 Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. Rm 12:18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Pr 16:7 man's ways please the LORD... Pr 29:9 Eph 4:3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, as called to one hope. Mk 9:50 Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another." Col 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. II. Peace as freedom from anxiety/loss (desire/fear/anger/strife) to those who abide in the powerful sovereign God of love (Rm 8:28) Phil 4:7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds thru/in/by en Christ Jesus. 8 think 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. Isa 26:2 Open the gates, that the righteous nation which keeps the truth may enter in. 3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. 4 Trust in the LORD forever, for in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength. IV. Peace as reward/blessing to those who are holy/sanctified/pure in heart in their following of Christ Num 25:12; Ezk 37:26; Mal 2:5 Rm 2:6 who "will render to each one according to his deeds": 7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; 10 but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Rm 14:17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Ps 37:11 Heb12:11 no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. 14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: V. Path/Process to Peace Produced by HS as we align our thots, values , will and actions with His Word and Will Rm 12:1-2 2Tim 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Ps 34:14 Rm 3:17 the way of peace they have not known. 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Ps 119:165 Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble. Pr 3:2..days and long life and peace...add Rm 15:13 may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Rm 16:20 And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. 2Cor 13:11 farewell. Become complete. Be of good courage, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. Titus 3:2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. Js 3:14-18 17 wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, equitable/gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. (Mt 5:9) 1Pt 3:11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it. Ps 34:14 2Pt 3:14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; Isa 48:18 Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea. 22 "There is no peace," says the LORD, "for the wicked." (=those who recite the law but don’t obey it -Ps 50) Questions for Reflection/Discussion/Response: 1. Are you at peace with God, others, and your circumstances? How does your view of God and what you think about determine your peace?
2. Who is winning the battle for your mind, HS or Satan? How can God;'s HS/Word produce love, joy, peace, unity, and blessing in/for you? |
