DTB Highlights in Genesis© 2017 WF Cobb Truthbase.net DailyTruthbase.blogspot APP God blesses His creatures, yet punishes disobedience with death (physical, spiritual, eternal), therefore know, fear, trust and obey Fall Ch 3 –Covenant/bi-lateral responsibilities; Salvation progressively reverses the effects of the Fall (rlshp, holiness, glory) APP we need to know and eat God's words not forbidden fruit because God keeps +/- promises; +/- consequences for our actions; Cain 4:7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? If you do not do well, sin lies at the door; its desire is for you, but you must rule over/master it APP We must proactively plan and perseveringly master sin or it will master us; do what's right in God's sight for acceptance (worth/value) Enoch 5:24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. Heb 11:5 by faith...pleased God; 8 by faith Abe obeyed 17:1 Abram was 99 years old, LORD appeared to Abram and said, "I am Almighty God; walk (Hithpael Imperative) before Me and be blameless/perfect Ps 101:1 I will sing of your hesed and justice; to you, Lord, I will sing praise. 2 I will be careful to lead/walk a blameless life—when will you come to me? I will conduct the affairs of my house with a blameless heart. 3 I will not look with approval on anything that is vile. I hate what faithless people do; I will have no part in it. 4 The perverse of heart shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with what is evil. 1Sam 2:30 LORD God of Israel says: 'I said indeed that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever.'(Num 25:13) But now the LORD says: 'Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed. 35 Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who shall do acc to what is in My heart and in My mind. I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before My anointed forever. (cf Mal 2:6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and injustice was not found on his lips. He walked with Me in peace and equity, and turned many away from iniquity.) 1Kg 8:23 LORD God of Israel..no God..keep Your covenant and hesed with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts. Zech 10:12 I will strengthen them (returning remnant) in the LORD, and they shall walk up and down in His name," says the LORD. APP: If we want to experience God's blessings, we must follow His desires rather than our own. To be victorious over satan's temporal temptations (power {security/significance}, pleasure/comfort; possessions) we must purpose to know and faithfully follow God's Word. Noah Flood 6:2 took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. 3 "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be 120 years." 5 LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 "I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast...for I am sorry that I have made them." 8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD. 9 Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God. APP: Those who walk with God don't walk with the world, and give Him glory cx grief, experiencing His favor rather than discipline. Abram 12, Blessing: Land, Seed,World Blessing 15 Abe believed God (raises dead + Rm 5) and it was credited to him for righteousness. Unilateral cov't 15:8 "Lord GOD, how shall I know that I will inherit it?" 10 cut them in two, down the middle, and placed each piece opposite the other 11 And when the vultures came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away. 12... they will afflict them 400 years. 14 afterward they shall come out with great possessions 16 for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete." 22:5 Abraham worships (responds to Revelation); and gets double blessing 22:16 not withheld 17 in blessing I will bless you 18 obeyed APP: Long-suffering endurance and obedient labor must be our pleasure as we save others and await the fulfillment of God's promises Isaac 25:21 Isaac pleaded with the LORD for his wife...barren; and the LORD granted his plea 26:1 famine in the land 2 LORD appeared: "Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you. 3 Dwell..I will be with you and bless you...I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father. 4 in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; 5 because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws." Jacob/Israel (Esau) takes deceptive short cut (like Eve) causing sorrow; yet God remains true to His promises Gen 28:20 Then Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on, 21 so that I come back to my father's house in peace, then the LORD shall be my God. 31:3 LORD said to Jacob, "Return to the land of your fathers...and I will be with you." 5 is not favorable toward me as before; but the God of my father has been with me. 6 with all my might I have served your father. 7 has deceived me and changed my wages ten times, but God did not allow him to hurt me. 13 I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar and where you made a vow to Me 32:28 "Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed." Joseph 37:5 dream 50:20 you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to..as this day, to save many people alive. APP God tests His chosen servants with difficulties, denial, and delays as they faithfully wait for the fulfillment of His promises to bless. Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.16 But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.
