III. Both God and we have responsibility in keeping us from wandering

(v21 keep self in love of God;  cf Js 5; last week-snatch others)

Jude 1 the called: sanctified by God and preserved/kept/guarded in/by union with Christ Jesus cf 1Pt 1:5by faith 2Pt 1:5-11 add to ur faith

Ps 17:4 by the word of Your lips, I have kept away from the paths of the destroyer. 5 Uphold my steps in Your paths, that my footstep may not slip.

NOTEGod did not stop Israel from violating the commandments and Dt cov't and walking away from Him to worship idols and get judged.

He does not stop the NT believers from “turning aside to follow satan” 1Tim 5:15, nor “loving this present world” 2Tim 4:10 nor denying Him rather than themselves 2Tim 2:13 Jude 1:4!! Nor does He violate our free will by overpowering us with His HS Acts 7:51. But He patiently uses prophets and Scriptural reproof/rebuke and historical 1Cor 10:6 and present judgment 1Cor 11:29-31 to call to repentance and blessable obedience.

Thus we must be convicted of unrighteousness/sin, repent, confess, be renewed/cleansed , 1Jn 1:9; Rm 8:13, 12:2; 1Pt 1:22 and obey to be holy & blessed

Geneva Lie (14) He commends them to the grace of God, declaring sufficiently that it is God only that can give us that constancy which He requires of us!!!

2Cor 6:1 We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

Our Plan: Ps 121:1 lift eyes  3 May he not allow your foot to slip!  17:5 I carefully obey your commands; I do not deviate from them.

Ps 94:17 If the Lord had not helped me, I would soon have died 18 If I said “My foot is slipping” your loyal love/hesed, O Lord, supports me

Pr 3:1 do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and not rely on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct/make straight your paths 7 Do not be wise in your own eyesFear the LORD and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.

OUR Responsibility:  1Jn 5:21 Little children, keep 5442 yourselves from idols. 2Pt 3:17 beware 5442 lest you also, being led away with the error of the wickedfall from your own steadfastness 2Th 3:3 Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep 5442 you from evil

Eph 6:11,13,16 He is able (3:20 1410), but 3x need for God's armor to be able/have power 1410 to stand, but we have to put it on and use it

Mt 7:13 Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter by it 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Faith is strengthened by our blessability  1Jn 3:22 ask..receive 'cs we keep His commands and do those things that are pleasing in His sight

OUR Job: 2Pt 1:10 exert yourself Heb 4:11 to make your calling and election sure: for if you (build yourself up in faith), you shall never fall/stumble

2Pt 1:3 power bestowed...life-godliness thru epiknow of Him...invited to glory-virtue....4 promises, that thru these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world thru lust. 5 for this very reason, giving all diligenceadd to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge 6 self-control...perseverance..godliness...7...brotherly kindness..love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. (Jn 13 foot vs bath) 10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things (v5 & ff) you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you  abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ  12 For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, tho you know and are established in the present truth

Not being able to do anything yields hopelessness and despair. But watching and praying and yielding and obeying are ours to do.

OUR Motivation1Cor 9:24 in a race all run...one prize? Run that you may obtain it. 25 competes for the prize is self-controlled in all things.. imperishable crown 26  run with certainty...fight...27 I discipline my body into subjection, lest, preach to others, I should become disqualified.

2Cor 4:17 momentary light afflictionproducing for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory 18 not look at which are seen, but at the things which are not seen...which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 5:2  earnestly desiring to be clothed 3 not found naked 5 that mortality may be swallowed up by life. 5 He who has fashioned us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a deposit. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight 9 Therefore we make it our aim...to be well pleasing to Him

Rev 3:11 Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown  2Jn 8 Watch not lose...worked for...but receive a full reward.

Phil 3:12 Not...attained, nor perfected; but I pursue, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.

14 I press/pursue to goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.15 mature, have this mind;16 same rule...same mind.

OUR Joy: And to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,

Mt 25:21 Well done, good and faithful servant; faithful over a few.  I will make you ruler over many.  Enter into the joy of your lord.'

1Thess 2:18 we wanted to come to you...but Satan hindered us.(Why would he do that? Gal 5:7) 19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? 20 For you are our glory and joy.

1Pt 4:13 rejoice, as you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, you may be glad w/ exceeding joy.

2Cor 4:17  For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works/produces for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

Mt 5:12 Rejoice, be exceeding joyful: for great is your reward in heaven: for so they persecuted the prophets before you

Mt 16:26 what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul m/w/e? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?  27 Son of man shall come in the glory of His Father with His angels; and then He shall reward every man acc to his works

Lk 14:14 you shall be blessed; for they can't repay...repaid at the resurrection of the righteous 15 Blessed is he that shall feast in the kingdom of God 24...none of those men which were invited shall taste of my supper 33 forsakes not all...cannot be My disciple

Rev 19:5 Praise our God, all you His servants, even you that fear Him, both small and great 7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife has made herself ready.(8 granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness acts of saints) 9 Blessed are they which are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb Mt 8:11-12
