Perception Performance 6b Forgiveness-Fellowship©2018 WF Cobb Truthbase.net DailyTruthbase.Blogspot.com Rm 15:5 may God of patience-encouragement grant you to be like-minded toward one another, acc to Christ Jesus, 6 that you may w/ one mind and one mouth glorify God...7 Therefore aggressively accept one another, just as Christ also initiatively accepted us, to glory of God I. Forgiveness requires (conditional) drawing on God's power/grace to obey His commands, fellowship with God, enjoy His Blessings A. We forgive as we've been forgiven to free ourselves from anger?bitterness and foster our relationships with God and man. Mt 6:12 forgive us our debts as we also forgive our debtors. Col 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another...even as Christ forgave you, so also must you. Lk 23:34 Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do. Mt 6:14 if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; 15 but if you do not forgive men...neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. 18:34 his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. 35 So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses Lk 17:3 Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents (change mind/heart) forgive him. 7x APP: Sin separates believers and non-believing from God (Isa 59:2; Rm 11). Repent and Return, and then Restore/Reconcile. II. Fellowship requires (conditional) mutual faithful obedience and drawing on God's power/grace to faithfully follow in unity A. fellowship is having in common/sharing the life, purposes, objectives, and actions of Christ as we walk together in the light of Truth 1Jn 1:3 seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ Jn 15 words abide Vine 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1Pt 1:22 sanctify by obeying...pure love Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? 2Cor 6:14...what fellowship has light with darkness? B. Fellowship and Acceptance are not automatic but a blessing bought by faithful obedience and loyal other centered love Gen 3 God “covered” sin (blood sacrifice), but still lost out on Eden and glory; Gen 4 Cain needed to do what was right to be accepted Num 13-14 forgiven/pardoned believers still reap judgment for their rebellion (cf 1Cor 10). Blessing/Cursing depends on faithfulness Repentance (understanding the reasons and rationale and changing) necessary for rlshp otherwise the same thing would happen that ruptured the relationship in the first place. Guilt and blame exist in the offender which is why they need to repent C. Devil divides (with lies and deception) division. Jesus divides with Truth yielding holiness 1Pt 1 Be holy as God s holy Mt 10:33 whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. 34 Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. 36 'a man's enemies will be those of his own household.' 37 who loves father or mother...son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 (love self) who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 He who obtains/acquires his life/soul will lose it, and he who loses his life/soul for My sake will acquire it Lk 12:51 Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. 52...one house will be divided: 2Cor 6:14...what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: " I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people." 17 Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive/accept you." 18 " I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, says the LORD 1Cor 5:5 deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 6 Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7 Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. 9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. APP 11 But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous/greedy, or an idolater, or a reviler (), or a drunkard, or an extortioner (forcefully get their way) --- not even to eat with such a person. III. Fellowship is not (just) for fun, but diverse Unity (not Uniformity) in joining together under Christ's Headship for His glory. A. Uniformity is everyone looking the same; Unity is everyone joining and looking to accomplish the same God-glorifying objective Eph 4 Body 1Cor 1:10 all speak the same thing, no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. Eph 4:12 equip saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to a measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful demonic plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head --- Christ --- 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, acc to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in LOVE. APP 17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, The HS convicts of sin, righteousness, and judgment Jn 16:8; sanctifies by guiding into all Truth Jn 14:26 and crucifying the flesh Rm 8:14; empowers by grace Eph 3:16-17. Reflecting and praying Jn 15 results in abiding and fruit Gal 5. Word dwells in richly Gal 3:16 teach others Eph 5:11 have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. 17 not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 not drunk...is excess, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another; psalms...in you heart; 20 giving thanks for all things 21 submitting yourselves to one another in the fear of God. 1Pt 5:1-5 elders & one another; Js 4:7 God; Rm 13; 1Pt 2:13 gov't |
