The Five Articles of Islamic Faith www.truthnet.org/islam/whatisislam.html
1. God: There is only one true God named Allah, all knowing, all-powerful, sovereign judge; he is not personally knowable. 2:255
2. Angels: serve Allah’s will; they are created of light; two recording angels record each person’s good or bad deeds.
Jinn : Are spiritual beings created out of fire; who are ranked between angels and men and can be either good or bad. Satan was a Jinn.
3. Scripture: four inspired books: Quran, Torah (Moses), Ingil (Gospels of Jesus) and Zabur (Psalms of David)
4. Prophets: God has spoken through Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus; greatest and last is Muhammmad, the seal of the prophets.
4:163 We have sent thee inspiration, as We sent it to Noah and the Messengers after him: We sent inspiration to Abraham, Ismail Ismaÿil, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon, and to David We gave the Psalms.
5. Last Days: Everybody will be resurrected to stand before Allah to be judged in the Last Day. Those who follow Allah and Mohammed will go to Paradise others will go to Hell. Everybody will pass through Hell and even some Muslim will spend time in Hell till their sins are burned away and Mohammad intercedes for them. Paradise: underneath the Earth that flows with rivers of wine...
Salvation: The Muslims believe in salvation by obedience to Allah. Mohammed will intercede on the behalf of Muslims before Allah. In a scale, Allah will weight the sins and good deeds to determine the punishment. Time in Hell will be necessary to pay for sins that outweigh good deeds. After which the “Muslims” will be accepted into Paradise. Non-Believers will go to Hell with no hope of escape. Those who die in Jihad or Holy War will go directly to Paradise where “he is married to seventy-two wives of the maidens with large dark eyes;...eighty thousand servants...” Al-Miqdam ibn madikarib Ma'dikarib (Hadith) MISHKAT AL-MASABIH The Hadith.
Surah 2:106 We do not abrogate a verse or let it be forgotten without bringing a better or similar one. Do you not know that Allah has power over all things? 4:82"Do they not attentively consider the Quran? If it had been from any besides Allah, they would certainly have found therein many contradictions."10:37 "This Quran could not have been composed by any except Allah; but it is a confirmation of that which was revealed before it, and an explanation of the scripture; there is no doubt thereof; sent down from the Lord of all creatures. 38 Will they say, 'Muhammed hath forged it'? Answer: 'Bring therefore a chapter like unto it, and call whom ye may to your assistance, besides Allah, if ye speak truth.
The Koran is said to be eternal, uncreated, co-existing from eternity past in heaven, and dictated to Mohammed in pieces, so it could be recited to others. It is claimed to be perfect in every aspect, and is beneficial to recite even without a clue as to its meaning.
Sources of the Quran: For alleged non-canonical Jewish, Christian, Zoroastrian sources in existence prior to Mohammed birth.
Notable Verses: Surah 1:1-7 In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds; the Compassionate, the Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship and from You alone we seek help. Lead us into the Straight Path; the path of those whom you have favoured, not those with whom you are angry, or go astray 112:1-4 In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful. Say: He is Allah, the One; Allah, the Eternal One; He does not beget, nor is he begotten, and like unto him there is not one. Surah 36
Freedom of Conscience Surah 33:36 "It is not fitting a believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and his Apostle, to have any option about their decision. If anyone disobeys Allah and his Apostle, he is indeed on a clearly wrong path."
Hadith 9:57 ...Allah's Messenger, "Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.' 9:64 So, wherever you find them, kill them, for whoever kills them shall have reward on the Day of Resurrection. Also Hadith 4:260 www.hope-of-israel.org/islam.htm
Women Surah 4:24 Also (prohibited) women already married, except those whom your right hands possess...35 "Men are the managers of the affairs of women for that God has preferred in bounty one of them over another, and for that they have expended of their property. Righteous women are therefore obedient, guarding the secret for God's guarding. And those you fear may be rebellious, admonish; banish them off their couches and beat them. If then, they obey you, look not for any way against them; God is all high, all great."
Surah 33:50-57 O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives (1) to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those whom thy right hand possesses (2) and of the prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee; (3) and daughters of thy maternal uncles and aunts (4) who migrated with thee (from Mecca); and any believing woman (5) who dedicates her soul to the Prophet--if the Prophet wishes to wed her. This only for thee and not for the believers....Thou mayest defer (the turn of) any of them that thou pleasest, and thou mayest receive any thou pleasest, and there is no blame on thee if thou invitest one whose (turn) thou hast set aside.... see 33:36-38 “revelation” permitting the taking of the wife of an adopted son
Jihad: 2:216 “Jihad/Warfare is ordained for you, though you dislike it. But it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and like a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knows, and you know not.” 4:95 “Not equal are those believers who sit at home and receive no injurious hurt, and those who strive hard, fighting Jihad in Allah’s Cause with their wealth and lives. Allah has granted a rank higher to those who strive hard, fighting Jihad with their wealth and bodies to those who sit (at home). Unto each has Allah promised good, but He prefers Jihadists who strive hard and fight above those who sit home. He has distinguished his fighters with a huge reward.” 33:22 “Among the Believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah and have gone out for Jihad. Some have completed their vow to extreme and have been martyred fighting and dying in His Cause, and some are waiting, prepared for death in battle.” 9:5 Fight and slay the pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every strategem of war.
47:4 “So, when you clash with the unbelieving Infidels in battle, smite their necks until you overpower them, killing and wounding many of them. At length, when you have thoroughly subdued them, bind them firmly, making (them) captives. Thereafter either generosity or ransom (them based upon what benefits Islam) until the war lays down its burdens. Thus are you commanded by Allah to continue carrying out Jihad against the unbelieving infidels until they submit to Islam.”
Predestination: 2:284 Allah will call you to account according to it; then He will forgive whom He pleases and chastise whom He pleases, and Allah has power over all things.” 4:88 “Do you wish to guide him whom Allah has caused to err? And whomsoever Allah causes to err, you shall by no means find a way for him.” 6:125 “Those whom Allah wills to guide, He opens their breast to Islam; Those whom He wills to leave straying, - he makes their breast close and constricted, as if they had to climb up to the skies: thus does Allah lay abomination on those who refuse to believe.” 7:178-179 “Whomsoever Allah guides, he is the one who follows the right way; and whomsoever He causes to err, these are the losers. Many are the Jinns and men we have made for Hell.”
Christianity and Islam: Jesus is just a prophet and not the Son of God. He is only a prophet to the Jews who was not crucified but was caught up into Heaven. God placed a substitute in his place on the cross. Many Muslims feel the substitute was Judas. Jesus is the Messiah who is coming at the end. He will kill all the Jews, Christians and pigs break all crosses get married and die 40 years later and be buried in Medina next to Mohammed. The Resurrection will follow. (4:157-158; 19:33)
Islamic Fundamentalism: hard-line literal view of the world through the eyes of the Quran. Islam is at war with Jews and Christians for world domination in the cause of Allah. As the earlier Muslims were at war with cities refusing to accept Mohammed as the prophet, Fundamentalist see themselves involved in a Jihad or Holy War against the West. Fundamentalist see the United States as Satan’s power in the battle with Islam. Television, movies, alcohol, carnal lifestyles and their influence on Muslim countries pits the US and the West at war with Islam. Furthermore, the United States support for Israel enrages Muslims, Israel is seen as Enemy No.1 to Muslim nations. Jihad: Jihad is battle in the cause of Allah in which the fighter gains immediate entry to Paradise. The Muslim has the right to slay anybody who has attacked Muslim sovereignty.
For example in one place the quran QurŸan teaches that the drinking of wine can have both good and bad effects (Surah 2.219) and when Muhammad first established himself as the ruler of the Muslim community at Medina his followers were told not to come to prayers in a drunken state (Surah 4.43). Later, however, the consumption of alcohol was abolished altogether
(Surah 5. 93-94). "I have been ordered by God to fight with people till they bear testimony to the fact that there is no God but Allah and that Mohammed is his messenger, and that they establish prayer and pay Zakat (money). If they do it, their blood and their property are safe from me" (see Bukhari Vol. I, p. 13).
The Apostate Relinquishing the Faith answering-islam.org/BehindVeil/btv1.html
Regardless of whether the Muslim embraces Christianity (as is happening today with millions of the Indonesians) or becomes an atheist, Islamic law declares that he must be killed. Also, anyone who rejects any of the basic ordinances of Islam or insults the prophet or the Qur'an (as Salman Rushdie did) will be regarded as an apostate and must be killed. It is well-known that all Muslim scholars agree upon these points without exception. They also avow that the prophet Muhammad said it, and they practice it with those who relinquish Islam and become apostate. The scholars also teach that this is what all the Caliphs (Muhammad's successors) did after him. Contemporary scholars declare without any shame that the Muslim's freedom to change his faith is non-existent and is not recognized by Islam.
Contemporary Scholars The Azhar University in Egypt
It is well-known that Egypt is the largest Arab/Islamic country in the world. The University of Azhar has been regarded through the years as the Mineret (light) of Islam for the entire Islamic world. The Legislative committee at the Azhar issued "The Bill of Legal Punishments. This book has been sent to all the Mosques in the West accompanied by a descriptive memorandum for these laws. The legislative committee requested Muslims to implement these penalties and comply with Islamic law. This bill was written both in Arabic and in English. It deals with the penalties imposed by Islamic law such as amputation of the thief's hand and the scourging of the wine drinker. However, we would like to deal here with the penalty for the apostate who relinquishes the Islamic faith.
Provisions Specific to Apostasy The "Bill of Legal Punishments" says (p.12),
"A person guilty of apostasy (man or woman) shall be put to death if repentance is not made within the period allowed which shall not exceed sixty days. Repentance of a person who commits apostasy more than twice shall not be accepted.
"An apostate is that Muslim who has renounced the faith of Islam irrespective of his adoption of another creed.
"The crime of apostasy is committed in the following ways: making an explicit statement or committing an act definitely indicating renunciation of Islam, denial of essential tenets of the faith, bringing into ridicule through word or action, the Gracious Koran."
On page 30, we find this explanatory note: "The ordained penalty for apostasy is based on the Sunnahh. The prophet, peace be on him, said, ‘One who changes his faith is to be killed' (al Bukhari). It is also narrated by Al Dar Qutni that when a woman called Umm-Marwan had renounced Islam, the Prophet ordered that if she failed to repent she should be put to death. The rightly guided Caliphs continued this practice. It is fully known that Abu-Bakr the truthful fought against those who had deserted from the religion of Islam and killed many. The Gracious Companions were of the same view, and a consensus emerged on this issue."
These are the verdicts of the contemporary Azhar scholars. They are the most knowledgeable people in the laws of the Islamic traditions of Muhammad and the actions taken by his successors.
The Scholars of Saudi Arabia
In one of his speeches which was published by the Tunisian newspapers, the former President of that country assaulted the Qur'an and said it is full of contradictions. He also said that Muhammad was a desert man who wrote myths in the Qur'an. The Saudi scholars wrote a book in which they threatened him. On the cover of the book, the following was printed:
"From the publications of the Islamic League of the Madina Munawwara in Saudi Arabia:
"The Verdict of Islam: ‘To him who alleged that the Qur'an is contradictory and includes some myths, who described the apostle Muhammad to imply that he was inflicted with vices or one who attacked his message...'
In page 13 of this book, Sheikh 'Abdul-'Aziz, along with all the Sheiks of Saudi Arabia, said:
"The verdict of Islam is to sentence to death anyone who commits such things. Thus the president Abu Ruqayba must haste to repent."
They assured him (pages 14 and 15) that all Muslim scholars have agreed that anyone who does these things must be killed. They said this is also the opinion of the heads of the four major Islamic schools. The major Islamic schools are the Shafi'i, Malik, Abu Hanifa, and Ahmad. It is well-known that the former president of Tunisia did not change his liberal opinions regarding Muhammad and the Qur'an which he mentioned in his speeches.
It is public knowledge in Tunisia that it is forbidden for a man to marry more than one woman. Thus, Western society should not have been surprised when Khomeini ordered the execution of Rushdie because this is the opinion of all Muslim scholars as well as the heads of the four leading schools.
The Egyptian State Assembly: The Highest Judicial Authority
On August 6, 1977, the most prestigious newspaper in Egypt, al-Ahram, published the following statement:
"The state assembly has approved a bill to enact the penalty for apostasy. The apostate who intentionally relinquishes Islam by explicit declaration or decisive deed must be put to death. Apostasy is established by one confirmation or by the testimony of two men. The apostate is forbidden to administer his properties. He will be given 30 days to repent before the execution of the sentence of death. But if one converted to Christianity was 10-14 years old, he will only be scourged fifty times."
